How to measure your space

Accurate measurements help us create a design that fits your room. Use the diagrams below as a guide, and follow these steps:

  1. Measure each wall. Starting at one corner, measure to the first window, door, or opening. Continue across the wall, recording each measurement separately.

  2. Measure doors and windows. Record the width and height of each opening, including the trim. Measure the distance from the floor to the bottom of each window's trim.

  3. Measure the widths of window, door and baseboard moldings.

  4. Record wall and ceiling heights. Measure from the floor to the ceiling. Note any changes in ceiling height, soffits, or sloped ceilings.

  5. Identify existing features. Mark the locations (centers) of plumbing fixtures, electrical outlets, appliances, vents, and other features that may affect your design.

  6. Create a simple sketch. Draw an overhead view of the room, label each wall, and write your measurements clearly. Your sketch does not need to be professionally drawn.

  7. Take photographs. Capture each wall and any important details to help us understand the existing space.

Scanned images or documents containing your room measurements can be uploaded once a design package is purchased

How Our Design Process Works

1. Submit Your Project Information

Choose the design package that best fits your needs. During checkout, you'll provide a description of your project and have the opportunity to upload room measurements, sketches, and photographs.

2. Initial Consultation

After reviewing your information, we'll schedule a brief phone consultation to discuss your design goals, preferences, appliance selections, and any additional details needed to begin.

3. Design Development

We'll prepare your initial design concept based on the information provided and the services included in your selected package. Your drawings and design documents will be delivered electronically.

4. Review and Revisions

You'll have an opportunity to review your design. Revisions included in your purchased package will be provided according to that package's terms. Additional revisions or design services may be available for an additional fee.

5. Additional Design Services

If your project requires more detailed drawings or additional design assistance, you may upgrade to a higher-level package. Any credit toward an upgrade will be confirmed before the additional purchase.
